Blossom & Bine is the dream come true farm for the Sheallivan Family. After almost 10 years of running a small, nonprofit vegetable farm and educational program, we lost the lease and funding and had to say a tearful goodbye to farm life back in 2015. In 2019, after a series of false starts, we ended up with more land than we ever could have imagined and started brainstorming what to do with it. We quickly nixed vegetables, which we absolutely love to grow and eat, but didn’t want to grow commercially again. Flowers, on the other hand, always seemed to be the best part of farming, so they went straight to the top of the list. Hops are interesting on so many levels including the fact that they were once grown on our property, they are beautiful to look at, smell amazing, and they are perennials, which means they don’t need to be re-planted every year. Plus, they’re in beer, so … of course we should grow hops!

Our first official growing season was 2020-fantastic year to start a business, right?
